The journey that led me to become a respected leader in the technology consulting space was never about simply climbing the corporate ladder. It was about solving the hard problems—the kind that Fortune 100 and 500 companies, highly regulated industries, and even government agencies struggled with, where stability, security, and compliance were absolute necessities. My career has been defined by an unwavering focus on digital transformation, cloud migrations, DevOps enablement, and value stream management. But more than the technical expertise, it has been the trust I built with clients, colleagues, and industry partners that has truly defined my legacy.
For over a decade, my tenure at Praecipio Consulting was instrumental in shaping both the company’s success and my own evolution as a technology strategist and business leader specializing in highly regulated environments. From the moment I joined, I was at the helm of some of the most mission-critical projects, guiding enterprises through large-scale transitions with minimal disruption and maximum efficiency. I wasn’t just designing and implementing solutions—I was creating frameworks that would define the way companies operated for years to come.
One of my greatest strengths has always been building trust, both internally and with the clients we served. The relationships I cultivated weren’t transactional; they were built on mutual respect, expertise, and a shared commitment to delivering excellence. I had the privilege of working with leaders in healthcare, life sciences, government, and defense, each of whom entrusted me with some of their most complex technical and regulatory challenges.
At BioAgilytix, my collaboration with David Pressley required deep consideration of 21 CFR Part 11 and ISO 27001 compliance, as we were working with laboratory systems that directly interfaced with regulated data collection processes. The integrity of our solutions wasn’t just about performance—it was about ensuring accuracy, security, and traceability in a way that met both regulatory and scientific rigor.
At McKesson, one of the largest healthcare companies in the world, I led a complex cloud migration project, ensuring that HIPAA and HITRUST compliance remained intact while modernizing infrastructure and improving operational efficiency. Healthcare technology modernization isn’t just about moving data—it’s about ensuring continuity of care, security, and compliance in an industry where lives are on the line.
At Maxar Technologies, I led a large-scale process and system overhaul, driving a cloud adoption initiative that redefined how critical workflows were managed. This transformation required strategic consolidation and segmentation, ensuring that both government security mandates and commercial operational efficiencies were met without disruption. The complexity of the project underscored the delicate balance between innovation and regulatory compliance—a challenge made significantly more achievable through collaboration with Dylan Demery, an exceptional Agile leader. Dylan’s ability to motivate teams through change was instrumental, as she skillfully guided stakeholders through obstacles by illuminating the tangible benefits on the other side of transformation.
Beyond individual clients, I played a significant role in developing and scaling Praecipio Consulting’s offerings, helping drive the company’s revenue from $20M to over $250M. I designed and led the implementation of high-performance hosting solutions for the Atlassian stack, a service that became a pillar of the company’s portfolio. I worked closely with Atlassian’s Cloud Migration Team, influencing their best practices. I even teamed up with select MVPs from other Atlassian Partners, under the direction of Julia Johnson, for the creation of the ACP-500 certification for Jira and Confluence System Administrator, further solidifying my expertise in enterprise IT governance.
Some projects were exhilarating in their sheer scale—such as working with Comcast/Xfinity, where we tackled the unique challenges of managing one of the most massive Atlassian instances in the world. Or with Fox, where we led a multi-faceted migration to AWS, standing on hotel balconies overlooking the Nakatomi Plaza (Die Hard) while strategizing the next phases of deployment.
In addition to my commercial work, I also supported clients requiring ITAR compliance and government security clearance, where the confidentiality and security of data were paramount. Working within these environments required not only deep technical acumen but also an understanding of federal regulations, data sovereignty, and the impact of technology decisions on national security and public trust.
Through it all, my relationship with Christian Lane, Praecipio’s founding partner, remained pivotal. Our conversations weren’t just about business; they were about vision, about how we could shape the industry, and how we could elevate the work we were doing. It was Christian who reminded me, in times of doubt, that my impact wasn’t just about the code I wrote or the solutions I designed—it was about the businesses I transformed and the leaders I empowered.
<Coming soon! A section about my direct manager, Praecipio Consulting Partner and CTO, Christopher Pepe, I have much to say about the skills both technical and soft of The Dragon of the West>
Now, as I stand at a new crossroads, I take with me not just decades of technical and strategic expertise, but the deep relationships and lessons that have shaped my career. My next chapter is about continuing to drive innovation in highly regulated environments, fostering business agility, and mentoring the next generation of technology leaders. Because in the end, success isn’t measured solely in revenue growth or technical accomplishments—it’s in the trust we build, the teams we uplift, and the legacies we leave behind.
